A biographical sketch (Biosketch) is a brief summary of a researcher’s curriculum vitae (CV) and may be required for all key personnel. A biographical sketch highlights specific research experience, related publications, and other important biographical information with regard to professional personnel. Some sponsors may require a regular CV or resume without providing a specific format. The following sponsors require biosketches on their own format/template:
- National Institutes of Health: All senior/key personnel and other significant contributors must include biosketches. Figures, tables (other than those included in the provided format pages), or graphics are not allowed in the biosketch. Do not embed or attach files (e.g. video, graphics, sound, data). The biosketch may not exceed five pages per person. This five-page limit includes the table at the top of the first page.
- National Science Foundation: NSF requires a biosketch (limited to two pages) for each individual identified as senior personnel. Detailed information about the content is available in the Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG) Chapter II.C.2.f.
